The children’s ministry started with three teachers (Mr. Emmanuel Pobee, Sofo Maame Comfort Dwamena and Deacon John Abbey) and twenty children at the current location of Assemblies of God, community 8 (aka Hotel de Pentecost) in the year  1991 October with its leader as Mr. Emmanuel Pobee. The children used to meet under a tree in front of the main church auditorium.

Later as the numbers grew, the children moved to the house of Dada Abbey ( now Late – an Elder of Shekinah Temple), and then also to the house of Mr Osei (Father of now Asafo Maame Comfort Dwamena).

The English assembly as it was then called had already started in Creater School -Tema and then  to the house of now retired Elder D.K Kyere and then to the community 4 chapel. It was when the church moved to Community 8 ( Hotel de Pentecost ) that the children’s ministry was officially formed. From here, the whole church including the children’s ministry moved to the Shekinah Temple in community 8, where we used to have our church services early in the morning and then the Shekinah church will take over after we had closed.

The children’s ministry continued to grow as we attracted more children from the community and also, new members joining the English Assembly, brought along their children.

When the church acquired land in community 7, it’s current location, there was special emphasis on growing the Children’s ministry which was factored into the design of the church building to contain classrooms for the children.  Today we have six dedicated rooms to the children’s ministry.
