BRIEF HISTORY OF THE PENTECOST INTERNATIONAL WORSHIP CENTRE (PIWC) – TEMA
The PIWC originally called English Assembly was established on the 14th of March 1988 with a membership of twenty (20) including officers who were drawn mainly from Community 8 Assembly. The District Pastor, then, was Rev. Stephen K. Baidoo (now a retired Apostle).
The first Presiding Elder, Daniel K. Kyere was prevailed upon to abandon his career as Senior Lecturer at the KNUST to preside over the Assembly, and the earlier meetings were held in his house at Community 11, No C11/AB 37.(Coincidentally, the same place became the residence of the first Resident Pastor when PIWC – Tema was inaugurated as a district in 2002).
The vision of the then District Pastor, Apostle Baidoo was that Tema being a cosmopolitan city, it was important for the Church of Pentecost in Tema to open its arms wider to; Those members who would prefer to worship and undertake other Church activities in languages other than the Local languages being used.
Those who fall within the above category but were not born again Christian to feel free to worship and interact with members of one of the Assemblies of the Church of Pentecost in Tema. Develop a group of Church of Pentecost members who could interact with other Bible Believing Churches such as the Baptist, Assemblies of God and others in Tema and elsewhere freely. Provide a platform/atmosphere for retaining second and third generation of Church of Pentecost members who have attained some higher levels of education and wish to worship in English.

The Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC), Tema, exists as a well-organized, cross-cultural and a Living Church with the primary aim of preparing Spirit-filled, committed and genuine Christians who are equipped to impact our generation for Christ.

5. Relationships: By maintaining a united and friendly cross-cultural Christian fellowship, where every member is an important and integral part of the family.
6. Holistic Ministry: Serving the needs of all people.
7. Mobilisation of Resources: Material as well as human for the promotion of the Church’s mandate.
